Capra Spawn[edit]

Great black goat of the abyss, consume my body! Allow me to become the vessel for your darkness!

You've gone and placed the demon goat mask on your head, and now it won't come off. You fool! But rather than break the curse, you've desired to give into it. In exchange, you gain power... but at what cost?

Becoming a Capra Spawn[edit]

Entry Requirements
Alignment: Any Evil.
Skills: Handle Animal 6 ranks or Knowledge Nature 6 ranks, Knowledge The Planes 10 ranks.
Special: Must be wearing a demon goat mask.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Capra Spawn.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The capra spawn is proficient with the great cleaver.

Gore (Ex): The capra spawn gains a gore attack with their helmet, which deals 1d8 damage as a medium creature.

The skull permanently fuses to the head like a graft (though it still occupied the head slot). At this point, the helmet cannot be removed by any means.

Oversized Grip (Ex): The capra spawn may use two-handed weapons sized for it as one-handed weapons.

Powerstance: The capra spawn gains the Powerstance feat as a bonus feat. They do not need to qualify for the feat.

Remove Vulnerability (Ex): The capra spawn loses the electricity and fire vulnerability that the demon goat mask applies as well as the vile damage. Vulnerability obtained from other sources remain.

Special Attack: At each level, the capra spawn learns a new special attack they may use, though they can choose which order to learn these special attacks. Select from the following abilities:

Great Impact (Ex): As a free action once per round, the capra spawn can make one of its attacks a great impact attack. If a creature is hit with the capra spawn's attack they must make a Fortitude save or fall prone. On a successful save they merely lose their shield bonus to AC. If they do not have a shield bonus to AC, they are instead knocked off balance for and take a -2 penalty on attacks and AC for 1 round. The saving throw is 10 + 1/2 HD + Strength modifier.

Leap Attack (Ex): As a full-attack action the capra spawn can make a Jump check, and move up to as many feet as the check result (round up to the nearest 5 ft increment). It makes a charge attack at the end of this jump, and deals double damage on a successful hit, as well as a free great impact attempt. It does not need a running start, though it may only make long jumps with this ability. The damage is simply doubled, including bonus damage. Double the damage after critical hits or other abilities have been used. It still takes a -2 penalty to AC for charging.

Sweeping Attack (Ex): As a full attack action the capra spawn may make a sweeping attack, dealing its weapon damage (including Strength and other bonuses) in a 15 ft cone, Reflex save negates. It may make this attack a great impact if it wishes. The saving throw is 10 + 1/2 HD + Strength modifier.

Large Size (Ex): At 2nd level, the capra spawn increases their size category by one (to a maximum of Large), gaining the benefits and penalties of changing size categories.

Apothesis: The 3rd level capra spawn awakens to their full demonic heritage. He becomes an Outsider rather than a humanoid or his original creature, retaining all subtypes and still counting as an original member of his race for prestige classes and spells. He gains the Chaotic and Evil subtypes as well, regardless of their actual alignment. They gain DR 10/good, and SR equal to their HD + 10. They are considered to be native to their original plane and to the abyss. At this point they are effectively a demon.

If you possessed the animal companion, familiar, or special mount ability, your levels in capra spawn now count towards your animal companion, familiar, or special mount advancement.

Fire Immunity (Ex): The 3rd level capra spawn becomes immune to fire damage.

Lava Step (Ex): The 3rd level capra spawn may run over lava as if it were a solid surface.

Scaling Two-Weapon Fighting: The 3rd level capra spawn gains Two-Weapon Fighting as a bonus feat. If they have at least BAB +6, they also gain Improved Two-Weapon Fighting. If they have at least BAB +11, they also gain Greater Two-Weapon Fighting. If they have at least BAB +16, they gain Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting. They gain these feats retroactively as they increase their BAB.

Playing a Capra Spawn[edit]

Combat: You are a demon in combat, literally. You're designed to be on the front lines, often with animal allies, so get up there.

Advancement: Perhaps you should go for a fiend or nature themed class, to complete your apotheosis into a capra demon.

Resources: No one is going to help a demon, are you kidding? You're on your own, save for any cults in your name.

Capra Spawn Lore[edit]

Characters with ranks in Knowledge The Planes can research Capra Spawns to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

15 Capra spawns are huge! That means they have huge guts! But seriously, capra spawn are bigger and better than mere mortals.
20 Powerful capra spawns are said to become true capra demons themselves.
30 Those that reach this level of success can learn about specific capra spawn, their whereabouts, recent activities, who they once were, and other information.

Capra Spawns in the Game[edit]

Adaptation: You can use other cursed items and use it as a template for other types of demons.

Sample Encounter: A mad cult leader has obtained a terrifying mask, and rumor says he is trying to become the body to a terrible demon from the abyss.
