Chain Fist (3.5e Equipment)

Functionally similar to automail, the chain fist is a metallic hand replacement which serves the same purpose as any hand, though like automail any ability and skill checks which use the replaced limb have a -2 penalty (which does not stack with other automail grafts). They can deal lethal damage with unarmed strikes using their chain fist, and enhance it as a weapon.
However the namesake of the chain fist comes from its ability to shoot out violently along a length of metal chain, normally wrapped about the wrist. This functions as a hookshot, but the fist does not need to pierce into the object or creature as it grabs onto them instead. It's carrying capacity for pulling objects is the same as your own pull/push capacity, support (but not drag) twice that amount, and the hand continues to function at range allowing it to make unarmed strikes, melee attacks, and grapple checks at a distance (at a -4 penalty for being with one hand only). It is otherwise a ranged attack roll (as per Hookshot) that you can use melee abilities with (such as Power Attack), and without the -2 penalty to attack for being one handed.
The chain fist may be safely removed or reconnected to a creature with a missing limb with a DC 15 Heal check as a standard action. Failing this check or having it removed improperly deals 2d10 points of nonlethal damage from the sudden shock of pain.
