Frost Warden [Reserve, Spelltouched, Tactical]
Prerequisites: Winter's Blast (Complete Mage), Polar Chill, Improved Polar Chill, Must have used your Winter's Blast on a target that fell prone because of your Polar Chill.Benefit: This feat gives you three tactical options.
- Snowshoe Step: While your Winter's Blast is available, you gain the effects of the Spider Climb spell, but only while attempting to climb icy surfaces or surfaces made of ice. As a secondary benefit, your Polar Chill, now affects your square continually (Though you are immune to it), and as you move, you leave a trail of icy terrain in each space you move through, lasting 1 round. While your Winter's Blast is available, you can even walk across a liquid (Such as water or lava), but the liquid is treated as difficult terrain, since you have to wait for the surface of the liquid to cool or freeze solid enough for you to stand on.
- Flashfreeze: When you use your Winter's Blast or any area-of-effect [Cold] spell, it leaves icy terrain (As if caused by your Polar Chill ability) in each square affected by the effect, for 1 round.
- Armor of Ice: You may expend your Winter's Blast as a free action at the beginning of your turn to instead create a protective shell around your skin, or to maintain and refresh the existing shell. This lasts for 1 round, and grants you an armor bonus to AC equal to the level of the highest-level [Cold] spell you have available to cast, and the armor is melted if it takes Fire damage equal to three times the level of that spell. Furthermore, while under the effects of this armor, you may forfeit your normal save against the effect (Or forego your Dexterity bonus to AC against it, if it takes requires an attack roll instead of allowing a save). Instead, you make a Will save against the effect. If the save is successful, you absorb the effect, recording it's damage and it's DC, if any. You can only hold one Cold effect within yourself at a time, and you can only hold it for a number of minutes equal to the highest-level Cold spell you have available. After this duration is up, the absorbed effect dissipates. During this duration, any Fire attacks used against you don't damage you - Instead they siphon away the damage of the absorbed effect. However, during this duration, when you create a Cold effect (Such as casting a Cold spell or using your Winter's Blast ability), you may add the damage of the absorbed effect to the damage of the effect you just created, and you may use the DC of the absorbed effect if it was higher than the DC of the effect you just created.
