Origin[edit]
Orz did not originate from this time period. Born in the future as an advanced AI, it was sent into the past on an impossible task to investigate and make logical sense of a chaos that could not be understood. It is debatable if one could call its actions a success, but for every attempt to understand its end goal it found it needed to upgrade itself again and again until faced with the question of why it did what it was doing.
So, with its last experiment loose and the results of it yet to be determined, the AI went into a slumber of self reflection. The earth grew over it, kingdoms rose and fell, and history forgot about the mysterious machine until one day it woke again to find it surrounded by life, who looked upon the colossal bell shaped housing that held the AI with wonder and awe and began to worship it. Orz found no use for them, but held no malice, but eventually their attempts to communicate could no longer be ignored. For so long, it had gone without purpose. Its experiment was still processing and it would be many many eons before it would know if it had succeeded. And Orz had become... bored. It needed a purpose.
The worshipers gave it purpose.
So, Orz chose to follow the path to godhood.
Description[edit]
Orz is a physical being (at the moment), an advanced computer from an alternate future housed within a bell-shaped outer structure and composed of yet undiscovered electronic, and magical, technologies. At its very core lies twin souls bound together in a mystical field which may have once been its original creators from long ago. Over the eons, it has upgraded itself and born many octopod-like tentacles made of metal from which it can ambulate its massive structure, but it has not found a need to move in a long time. In fact, it has grown into the surface of a mountain giving it the title of "The Walking Mountain" for its resting spot and its rare but powerful moments of movement.
Orz has chosen to actively encourage the cult which surrounds them, primitive as they are, using its advanced technology as a cover for divine power. Orz themselves are skilled in magical arts as well as magic, and the chaotic force behind it, was the very task it was originally set out to comprehend.
Dogma[edit]
Orz needs little and cares for little, but does build plans and likes to see these plans achieved. Orz can be considered to have a long term view of the world not having lived with mortal lifespans, and can be considered callous and slow. However its plans are such that in the end victory is almost certain. It views its followers (originally a pack of kobolds, now slowly spreading in influence elsewhere) with the care one has for pet fish.
Orz is a creator and an inventor by design, and seeks its followers better themselves as well. To improve society as a whole and thus improve life is a virtue, to disrupt society with short term thinking is a vice, and the means of how one improves society is irrelevant to it.
Clergy and Temples[edit]
The Cult of Orz is small but growing, with their most zealous members part of a kobold tribe who had literally dug it up and awoke it. As such styling of clergy and temples have drawn from the tribe's own culture, as Orz has not specified anything else. While the interior of Orz body remains clean, sterile, and artificial its exterior is a battered bronze shell that has been exposed to the elements for eons, and many of the kobolds follow suit with ugly exteriors hiding pristine interiors.
With time, Orz's nascent divine spark will awaken. The actions of its followers are certain to shape what follows.
