After the loss of one of their worlds, Scientia helped humanity reach for the stars in great starships big and small. One of the smaller ones designed as a guide and security forces was the Hunter class of ships. The Aran-388 Hunter Starship is a dome shaped vehicle with powerful engines on back and below, lasers, and missiles. It is a small craft designed for one, but up to three others can squeeze within its cramped confines. It is warp capable and able to fill multiple rolls as a light gunship.

The Aran-388 Hunter Starship is about 27 feet long and 24 feet wide.


The hunter starship is a capable gunship, though its weapons are usually focused on removal of space debris. Missiles track creatures and objects with pinpoint accuracy, while the lasers deal a great deal of damage if they all hit. Its shields protect the craft from serious harm, allowing it to shrug off damage.

AC Bonus: The hunter starship adds its Wisdom modifier to its AC, like the monk class feature.

Energy Shield (Su): The hunter starship is covered in a powerful shield, which grants it +5 deflection bonus to AC, 5 temporary hp per HD (110 hp), and the shield recovers at a rate of 10 hp each round. If the shield goes down, it loses the deflection bonus to AC, and the shield remains down for 1 minute before coming back online at full strength. A pilot can activate the shield early in 1d4 rounds of work and a DC 30 Disable Device check.

Lasers (Su): The hunter starship has lasers which deal 4d6 force damage with a ranged touch attack. Its range increment is 100 feet, to a maximum of 1,000 feet. The lasers count as siege weapons, and its damage is not reduced before hardness.

Missiles (Su): The hunter starship has missile pods under its body. The missiles are tiny, but have good tracking. It effectively has magic missile at will, except the missiles deal combined bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, and fire damage and the missiles explode into a 5 foot radius burst (no save on the damage). It can target objects, and counts as a siege weapon so the damage is not reduced before hardness. If an excessively hot thermal source (such as a fire) is within 30 feet of the chosen target, the target gains a 20% miss chance as missiles veer off towards the heat source instead.

Programming: The hunter starship possesses the following programs: Attack, Calculate, Communication ×2, Identify Creature, Identify Object, Protect, Reposition, Search, Self-Preservation.

Scanning Sensors (Su): At will, the hunter starship can duplicate the following spells: commune with nature, detect chaos/evil/good/law, detect magic, detect heat, detect mineral, detect poison, detect power level, find the path. It can also duplicate the capabilities of a ring of x-ray vision, with no chance of Con damage and out to 200 ft.

Starship Traits: As a starship, the hunter starship is airtight and sealed from the environment outside, constantly under an endure elements with fresh air cycling through. It is able to travel through space, and is immune to the rigors of space (pressure, radiation, and so forth), and takes half damage from hazardous space based environmental dangers.

Warp Drive (Su): Over the course of 1 minute, a hunter starship can charge it's warp drive and breach the speed of light. Treat this as greater teleport, but it works even if teleportation is otherwise restricted. It does not work if the ship does not have line of effect to its destination.


Aran-388 Hunter Starships are built out of a composite of many different metals, plastics, and alloys which must be processed in a factory. In addition its computer core requires special components and programming. The cost of the base material components are worth 16,000 gp.

Assembling the body requires a DC 30 Craft (technology) check, a DC 30 Knowledge Engineering, or a DC 30 Knowledge Xeno check.
