A terrible feeling washes over you as if you feel something bad is about to happen, but with a brush of your hand the sensation departs, landing instead on your enemy. Your opponent grimaces, knowing you tried some foul magic against them, but as they charged the managed to trip, landing upon a sharp rock and knocking themselves cold. Days later, you hear the victim died of an infection of the wound from the failed charge, but not before his house was found burned to the ground, his job terminated, and incurring several more injuries simply on the way to the hospital. Unlucky guy.
Cursed One invokes a terrible affliction against your opponent not by manipulating their mind, but rather the whims of fortune herself. When affected, any d20 roll the creature makes that is a result of a natural 10 or lower instead changes to a natural 1. In short, they gain a 50% chance for a normal result, or else they automatically fail the roll. If they roll a natural 1 normally, they fail and are dealt backlash damage equal to twice their HD. Backlash damage is untyped, and bypasses damage reduction. The effect is permanent, but may be removed by limited wish, wish, or miracle.
