Paladin of Nothing

You are not a champion of good. Or evil. Or anything. You are the purest expression of reality, the unfeeling void that is and is not.

Class: Pathfinder Paladin

Level: 1st

Replaces: Code of Conduct, Aura of Good, Detect Evil, Smite Evil, Divine Grace, Lay on Hands, Aura of Courage, Channel Positive Energy, Spells, Divine Bond, Aura of Justice, Aura of Faith, Holy Champion

Benefit: A paladin of nothing has no code, and no means of falling, for the void cares not for how one holds thyself. A paladin of nothing gains the following:

DR/Evil Replacement: Choose one material (cold iron, silver, or adamantine). Any time a paladin of nothing would gain an alignment based DR such as DR/evil from any source, they instead gain the same amount in DR for the chosen material.

Aura of Null (Ex): A paladin of nothing radiates no aura, and instead gains Ur-Soul as a bonus feat. This replaces Aura of Good.

Smite (Su): Good, evil, these terms mean nothing. The smite ability of a paladin of nothing applies equally to all creatures regardless of alignment. They do not gain any special benefit against undead or evil-aligned dragons, but still deal twice their level in damage against outsiders with any alignment subtype (instead of just Evil subtype). In addition they do not add their Charisma as a bonus to attack rolls or deflection, but instead add a fixed amount based on their level. They gain a +2 bonus to attack and AC, which rises by one at 4th level and every three levels beyond (to a maximum of +8 at 19th level). This replaces Smite Evil.

Dampen Affliction: At 2nd level, a paladin of nothing gains Dampen Affliction as a bonus feat. This replaces Divine Grace.

Hands of Creation and Destruction (Su): At 2nd level, a paladin of nothing can repair or harm with a touch. This acts like Lay on Hands but only deals d4s and can either damage or cure as it is not based on positive or negative energy. As such, it is even capable of healing or harming constructs. This otherwise acts as Lay on Hands, and replaces Lay on Hands.

Touch of Calm (Su): At 3rd level, a paladin of nothing may use calm emotions on themselves as a swift action, or as a standard action with a range of touch at will. If used on themselves, they can perform this even if they would otherwise be incapable due to a mind-effecting status effect. This replaces Aura of Courage.

Channel Creation and Destruction (Su): At 4th level the channel energy normally gained by the paladin instead behaves as Hands of Creation and Destruction, choosing to either heal or harm and not employing positive or negative energy. This otherwise acts as and replaces Channel Positive Energy.

Spells: A paladin of nothing continues to cast paladin spells, but ignores any alignment-specific modifiers and instead applies them to any alignment except True Neutral. All spells relating to the undead, or which deal elemental damage (acid, cold, electric, fire, or sonic) are removed and the following is added to the paladin spell list at the listed levels:

1st-create pitPF, dispel wardSpC, divine interdictionSpC, invisibility, obscure object.
2nd-blink, dispel magic, forcewardSpC, ray of deanimationSpC, sensory deprevationSpC.
3rd-greater dispel magic, indomitabilitySpC, nondetection, roaming pitPF, vacuum sphere.
4th-anticold sphereSpC, antimagic field, barghast's feastSpC, cursed bladeSpC, ethereal jaunt, greater blinkSpC.

Divine Bond (Sp): At 5th level the paladin's divine bond is altered. If the weapon bond is chosen, the special weapon properties available become: balance, brilliant energy, dispellingMIC, greater dispellingMIC, impedanceMIC, mind rending, silent, stygianMIC, and unseen.

If a divine mount is chosen, the mount gains the effects of Shadow Companion, except it does not gain darkvision and takes no additional penalties or damage while in [Light] effects. It continues to gain its normal improvements as it levels, and when it gains the celestial template its smite acts like yours, and its damage reduction is bypassed by your material of your choice (cold iron, silver, or adamantine).

Aura of Detachment (Su): At 11th level, the paladin of nothing gains the usual benefits of Aura of Justice, except it behaves as his version of smite instead of the normal smite evil, and evil creatures still benefit. This replaces Aura of Justice.

Aura of Faithlessness (Su): At 14th level, a paladin of nothing bypasses all forms of alignment based damage reduction. This replaces Aura of Faith.

Faithless Champion (Su): At 20th level, a paladin of nothing changes the effects of Holy Champion to apply against any outsider with an alignment subtype, instead of merely [Evil] subtype.
