Science Wizard

You're a scientist of magic, not unlike an artificer. Your magic is really all magic items.

Class: Wizard

Level: 1st

Replaces: Familiar, Spellcasting, Scribe Scroll

Benefit: You gain several benefits, as shown below.

Catalyst Casting: Select an item which is either a weapon, shield, or an item which consumes a body slot (such as ring, amulet, or hat), but not including the body slot. You obtain a masterwork form of this item for free which is your "catalyst". You cannot cast your spells without your catalyst in hand or equipped. However, your spellcasting replaces the somatic components of spells with command word activation, meaning you do not provoke attacks of opportunity for casting. You must still pay the expensive material and XP components of a spell as normal. A science wizard always knows the direction (but not the distance) of their catalyst. The catalyst can be enhanced further as normal, and gains a 10% discount on any enhancements applied to it.

If the catalyst is lost or destroyed, a new catalyst can be assigned over the course of 24 hours by spending 100 gp per effective wizard level you possess. This replaces your familiar and spellcasting method.

Skills: You gain 4+Int for skill points, and add Disable Device, Program, and Use Magic Device to your class skills. This replaces Scribe Scroll.
