The hunting moon god of the natalupe pantheon, he embodies the predatory spirit, the chaos of battle, and the power of the body. Said to live on the moon and be associated with death, he is not seen in a negative light, at least not to his natalupe worshipers. Death is a natural part of life and through death, life sustains itself. When a creature dies, they are said to have their spirit travel to the moon until the day they wish to be reborn in the light of Parelion.
Origin[edit]
Vargulf was one of many beings which came into being with the death of the great destroyer. As blood fell into the water, Vargulf wiggled out of the ever-clouding mist filled with hunger. In his realm of the land his chosen home, the moon, shone constant with no passing of time. There he hunted many things above and below the surface, until the things he hunted became scarce. Realizing the folly of over-eating, he found Parelion whose powers dealt with life and who was having a similar problem. Together they agreed that half the time things shall grow in the light of the sun, and half the time things will be hunted and killed under the shine of the moon. So began the cycle of day and night.
Description[edit]
Vargulf appears as a huge and powerful natalupe with fur of silver and teeth black as night. His body is marked with scars of battle and behind him lies a halo of light, which is the moon. He carries a spear in hand and often hunts in the oceans, appearing as a great leviathan or sea snake.
Dogma[edit]
Vargulf is the hunt, and the act of battle itself. To fight the good fight is his desire, to hunt the greatest beast and celebrate with the greatest meal is his pleasure. When one does not fight, one dies and when it happens he scoops them up and gives them a home. Parelion rules the dead, but Vargulf rules the earth and those who walk upon it, as well as providing a home for all dead warriors.
Clergy and Temples[edit]
Vargulf's clergy are indistinguishable from warriors and hunters, for the physical experience is the fullest way to experience the glory of Vargulf. His temples are battle encampments, and are rarely permanent structures. Though they are often crude compared Parelion, Vargulf is one of the more commonly worshiped natalupe deities as his presence in their lives on the material is much more important.
Pantheon[edit]
Vargulf is part of the natalupe pantheon.
