A warrior who takes the concept of protection to the next level by bringing his own castle walls to defend with. 10 5 Good Good Poor Good Prepared Arcane Spellcasting Separate

Wall Knight[edit]

You shall not pass. End of line.
—Rook, Warforged Wall Knight, Defense of Spellfall Mountain

You are a wall. A wall of body, a wall of armor. You are the sort who may carry a tower shield, or shield your friends through bulk alone. Through the philosophy of WALL did you discover the ultimate truths, and thus you obtained the power to build, conjure, and breach walls of your own.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the wall knight.

Spells: Wall knights cast arcane spells, though no spell they cast from this class has somatic components and thus they do not suffer arcane spell failure. To cast a particular spell, you must have an Intelligence or Wisdom score of at least 10 + the spell's level (chosen upon taking the class, after which it cannot be changed). Your bonus spells are based on your Intelligence or Wisdom respectively. Saves to avoid the effects of your spells have a DC of 10 + the spell's level + your Int or Wis bonus (if any).

You cast spells as a cleric does. The wall knight studies his blueprints at which he must rest for 8 hours to ready their spell slots, then prepare by studying their blueprints for 1 hour. A wall knight may prepare and cast any spell on the wall knight spell list, provided that he can cast spells of that level, but he must choose which spells to prepare during his studies. Choose your spells from the following list:

1st—conjure tools, create wooden door, crumbleSpC, dark waySpC, dispater's tower, earth lockSpC, earthfastSpC, easy climbSpC, fireproofing, force fence, foundation of stoneSpC, meld into stone, nature's rampartSpC, quantum lock, quickwind shield, shatter, force ladderSpC, summon sweaty strongmen, tiny hut, wall of gloomSpC, wall of lightSpC, wall of smokeSpC, warp wood, wind wall, wood shape, zone of OSHA-compliance

2nd—airtight architecture, density control, dispelling screenSpC, force chestSpC, illusory wall, land wombSpC, life lock, secure shelter, stone shape, stone shatterSpC, sudden stalagmiteSpC, wall of chaos/evil/good/lawSpC, wall of crabs, wall of fire, wall of ice, wall of thunderbolts, wall of waterSpC, wall of sandSpC,

3rd—bone shape, fabricate, fire sweeper, flesh to stone, greater stone shapeSpC, hidden lodgeSpC, mage's private sanctum, metal shape, moon pathSpC, passwall, spiritwallSpC, stone to flesh, transmute mud to rock, transmute rock to mud, wall of dispel magicSpC, wall of force, wall of limbsSpC, wall of stone, wall of thorns

4th—fabrication machine, greater dispelling screenSpC, guards and wards, hardening, ironwood, move earth, sarcophagus of stoneSpC, selective wall of force, tunnel swallowSpC, wall of gearsSpC, wall of iron, wall of magnets, wall of plasma

5th—antimagic field, excavateSpC, lithos shield, maw of stoneSpC, mage’s magnificent mansion, negative mass, phase door, portal barrier, stromberg's frozen court, warding shell

Specified Partial Class Advancement: Levels in wall knight gives advancement to pre-existing class features, such as sneak attack, bardic songs per day (but not bardic music known), caster level (but not spells known), and initiator level (but not new maneuvers). It does not grant new class features, nor does it grant spells per day, spells known, or similar abilities with one exception; it synergizes well with fighters. Fighters continue to get bonus feats though at half their rate (as each level counts 1/2 to the acquisition of bonus feats).

Unmoving (Ex): As long as they are wearing heavy armor the wall knight adds their class level as a bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when standing on the ground (but not when climbing, flying, riding, or otherwise not standing firmly on the ground). This stacks with similar effects such as dwarven stability.

Wallcrasher: The wall knight gains Wallcrasher as a bonus feat. If they already have or later gain the feat, they no longer take damage or fall prone on a failed attempt.

Barrier (Su): At 2nd level the wall knight can conjure magical force barriers not unlike a tiny wall of force as a move action. They can conjure up a single 5 ft square plane and may have up to per class level in barriers active at one time. Barriers last 10 minutes, until dismissed, or until new barriers over your limit dismiss previous barriers. You may otherwise do this at will out to a range of 30 ft. Unlike wall of force these transparent barriers are not invulnerable and have hardness equal to 10 + your class level and 1 hp.

Wall Breacher (Ex): The wall knight must know how to break a wall in order to build better walls. At 2nd level the wall knight adds their class level to sunder checks to break walls, fortifications, and other forms of architecture. If they take a 1 round action, they may make a single attack and breach force effects as if they had cast disintegrate. In addition they may deal critical hits to objects, constructs, and undead as if they did not possess their inherent immunity. This does not bypass effects such as fortification enhancements.

Craft Architecture: The 3rd level wall knight can craft any form of magical architecture or fortification as if they had the appropriate item creation feats. In addition mundane crafting of said architecture is completed in half the time.

Solid as a Wall: At 3rd level the wall knight themselves are like a wall. They gain Brickhouse trait but lack the drawback. If you already have the Brickhouse trait, not only do you lose the drawback up you may now choose to be considered filling up all adjucent spaces as well for the purposes of cover.

Emotion Unyielding (Ex): A wall knight must be more that a physical wall, their mind is also a challenge to breach. At 4th level they gain a +4 bonus saves against mind-affecting effects, and the bonus rises to +8 if it is an effect that alters ones emotional state.

Grand Architect (Su): The 5th level wall knight can construct buildings of great import all on their own. They gain the laboring (but not the attack negation) effects of a Lyre of Building except they use their Knowledge (architecture and engineering) instead of Perform and the effect and cooldown are daily instead of weekly.

Quick Wall: Sometimes you just don't have time to worry about the quality of a wall. At 5th level the wall knight can cast any spell from the class with wall in its name as a swift action with no adjustment in spell level or casting time. However if they do so, the spell only lasts for 1d4 rounds instead of its normal duration (or its normal duration if shorter).

Barrier Blink: A 6th level wall knight knows their control of the battlefield can sometimes styme allied efforts. Therefore as an immediate action they may make any barrier or wall effect they have produced permiable and harmless for any single creature, long enough for them to pass through the barrier to the other side. All barriers and walls automatically blink out to allow the wall knight through with no action on their part.

Sturdy (Ex): The 6th level wall knight refuses to fall to simple things like "damage", "giant glaciers", or "common sense". They have the effect of a Sturdy Ring at all times. If this "ring" breaks, the ability cannot be used again until the wall knight has rested for 8 hours.

Immobile Defense (Ex): A wall knight is slow but powerful. At 7th level whenever the wall knight has spent at least 1 round not moving at the beginning of their next turn they gain DR 5/- as their body becomes as durable as the walls they build. The damage reduction remains in place as long as they do not move more than 5 ft a round for any reason, and immediately ends once moved beyond that point.

Improved Emotion Unyielding (Ex): At 8th level the wall knight's emotion unyielding ability improves. They become immune to all emotional effects, charms, and compulsions.

Destroy Wall: A 9th level wall knight can destroy any wall in their way given enough time. All their attacks now ignore up to 10 points of hardness and deal full damage when against any fortification or wall. As a full attack action they now may make a single attack and breach force effects as if they had cast disintegrate. Lastly as a standard action they may focus their power. Their next attack made before the end of the next round gains a +20 bonus on Strength checks to break any object.

Absolute Unmoving (Su): At 10th level the wall knight achieves the ultimate wall zen. As long as they are wearing heavy armor the wall knight benefits from the Unmovable enhancement.

Personal Barrier (Su): The 10th level wall knight has been using barriers so much, they have stuck around. Choose one side at the beginning of each round such as left or behind you or above you. A barrier appears there granting total cover and breaking line of effect. This is a free barrier and does not count towards your barrier limit from the class feature of the same name.

Campaign Information[edit]

Playing a Wall Knight[edit]

Wall Knights in the World[edit]

You will be very safe inside this metal box. I encourage you do not move so as to conserve your ever-dwindling air supply.
—Dadorable, Golden One Wall Knight

NPC Reactions: The common folk is unlikely to know of your powers, but they may know of your works and appreciate your walls every day they exist unharmed by barbarians outside.

Wall Knight Lore[edit]

Knowledge (architecture and engineering)
DC Result
10 A wall knight is a type of gish warrior who specializes in the creation of walls and barriers.
15 The wall knight is effective in breaking down walls, and may be great architects and builders in their own right.
20 Powerful wall knights are as tough as the walls they produce. Some are said to be completely impossible to move.
30 Those that achieve this level of success can research specific wall knights, their works, where they operate, their motives, and other trivia.
