Magestriker[edit]

The magestriker is a gish class that mostly focus on abjuration, conjuration and transmutation as well as utility spells and possess little blasting power. They use their magic both to increase their combat capability and to provide utility to the party.

Making a Magestriker[edit]

Abilities: Intelligence is paramount to the magetsriker. Other ability scores may be important based on the magestriker's fighting style.

Races: Any races that make good spellcaster or good warriors can make a good magestrikers..

Alignment: Any

Starting Gold: As wizard.

Starting Age: Complex.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the magestriker.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: magestrikers are proficients with all simple and martial weapons, she si also proficient with light and medium armor as well as all shield (except tower shield). A magestriker can cast bard spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. However, like any other arcane spellcaster, a magestriker wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component (most do). A multiclass magestriker still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes.

Spells: magestriker are spontaneous arcane casters, unlike wizards, magestrikers do not need to prepare their spell.

To learn or cast a spell, a magestriker must have a intelligence score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a magestriker’s spell is 10 + the 1/2 HDs + the magestriker’s intelligence modifier.

Like other spellcasters, a magestriker can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. His base daily spell allotment is given on Table: The magestriker. In addition, he receives bonus spells per day if he has a high intelligence score.

A magestriker’s selection of spells is extremely limited. A magestriker begins play knowing all yours 0-level spells and two 1st-level spells of your choice. At each new magestriker level, she gains two new spells of any level he can cast. These new spells can be common spells chosen from the magestriker spell list, or they can be unusual spells that the magestriker has gained some understanding of by study. The magestriker can’t use this method of spell acquisition to learn spells at a faster rate, however.

Cantrips: A magestriker may use her cantrips at will.

Battlecaster (Ex): A magestriker is capable of using somatic components while wielding weapons or holding a shield. Additionally she gain the ironclad mage feat as a bonus feat.

Bonus Feat: At 1st level, 4th level and each 4 level thereafter a magestriker gain a single [arcane combat], [fighter] or [metamagic] or one feat from the following list, she must meet the prerequisites of the chosen feat: gatecrasher, improved familiar, skill focus (any knowledge or spellcraft), spell focus or greater spell focus. A magestriker count her class level as effective fighter level for the purpose of qualifying for feat prerequisites.

Familiar: A magestriker receive a familiar as a wizard of her class level.

Improved Mage Armor (Su): A 2nd level magestriker can increase her magical defense significantly, the AC she gain from mage armor increase by half her class level (rounded down). She even can even combine her mage armor with conventional armor; while under the effect mage armor in light armor she gain a +1 bonus to AC, the bonus improve to +2 while in medium armor and +3 while in heavy armor.

Spell Ward (Su): A 3rd level magestriker can raise an immediate ward to block incoming spells, she gain the improved counterspell feat as a bonus feat and may attempt to counter spell as a immediate action. She may use two spell slots when countering spells, adding the level of both spells to determine the level needed to counter the spell (therefore a magestriker may expand two 2nd level spell slot to counter a 3rd level spell). While she is not flat footed she has a ward equal to 10 + her class level that only against spells, spell-like abilities and magical weapons.

Spellbound Weapon: A 3rd level magestriker can cast ancestral weapon at will as a swift action, except it can be any weapon she is proficient with and last 24 hours or until she stop holding it for 3 round, whichever come first. Her spellbound weapon always has the focus enhancement for free.

Timely Magic (Su): A 4th level magestriker is capable of manipulating the timely fabric of magic, allowing her to lengthen or shorten the duration of any magical effect upon her. When the magestriker is subjected to a non-extraordinary effect with a duration other than instantaneous or permanent she may decide to either lengthen or shorten it duration by one round, at each even level she is capable of lengthening or shortening the effect by an additional round.

Mystic Surge: A 5th level magestriker can unleash her arcane and martial talent in a single attack. As a standard action she may make a single melee attack and cast a single spell (in the order she desire), the spell she wish to cast must have a casting time of one standard action or lower. The melee attack is wreathed in cracking magical energy, increasing it reach and dealing an extra 1d6 pure magic damage per level of the spell cast. The extra reach and damage only apply for the one melee attack granted by mystic surge.

Enhanced Arms (Su): At 6th level any weapons, armor, or shields the magestriker uses always gains a +1 enhancement bonus and counts as magical. Unlike most enhancement bonuses, this one stacks with actual magic gear (so a +2 flaming longsword is a +3 flaming longsword in the hands of a magestriker).

Formshift Stance (Su): A 6th level magestriker has the capacities of using residual transmutation magic to alter her shape, as a swift action she can enter a stance in which her shape is altered within the same limitation as the alter form spell. Once used her formshift stance appearance cannot be changed for 24 hours, however she may drop in and out of the stance as a swift action, switching between her altered form and real form.

Spellbound Smite (Su): A 7th level magestriker is capable of delivering a powerful blast of arcane energy through her weapon, as an attack action she may make a melee touch attack. This attack deal 1d4 + the magestriker's intelligence modifier in pure magical damage and fully benefits from enhancement and abilities of the weapon it is delivered through.

Dimensional Pounce: Whenever a 9th level magestriker use a [teleportation] she may make a single melee attack at her highest attack bonus on arrival, whichever creature she attack is considered flat-footed against this attack.

Spellslice (Su): A 10th level magestriker may now attempt to counter a spell as an attack of opportunity, however the spell need to pass through her threatened area for her to do so.

Intense Ward (Su): A 11th level magestriker's ward become so intense she gain spell resistance equal to 11 + her class level and may counter supernatural abilities, the effective spell level of the supernatural abilities is equal to half of the CR of the creature using it +1 (so a supernatural ability used by a a CR 5 Creature count as a 3rd level spell for the purpose of countering it).

Greater Mystic Surge (Su): A 13th level magetsriker may now use her mystic surge class feature as a full-attack action, making a full attack then casting a spell or casting a spell then making a full-attack. The bonus damage and reach from mystic spell applies to each attacks made during the full attack.

Absorbing Ward (Su): Whenever a 14th level magestriker successfully counter a spell or a spell fail to pierce her spell resistance she recover 10 hit points per spell level of the spell.

Banishing Blade (Su): A 15th level of higher magerstriker can imbue her weapon with a banishment effect as a swift action. The next creature she striker with her weapon is banished as the spell with all saving throws normally allowed.

Reflective Ward (Su): Whenever a 18th level magestriker successfully counter a spell she may reflect it as per spell turning, she is allowed to choose new targets for the spell as she see fit.
