Legendary Super Saiyan[edit]

Saiyan legend says that once every 1,000 years, a special Saiyan is born. A Saiyan with unparalleled power, and with the potential to be one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Being a Legendary Super Saiyan isn’t something you "become" its something you "are". From the day you are born, you are the Saiyan of Legend. Whether you pursue or live up to that potential or not, you always have been and always will be, the Legendary Super Saiyan.

Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: The Legendary Super Saiyan is not proficient with any weapons or armors and with no shields.


Saiyan Warrior Abilities: As a Legendary Super Saiyan gains levels he gains unarmed damage bonus and unarmored AC bonus and flurry of blows progression just as Saiyan Warrior's do and his Legendary Super Saiyan levels stack with any other classes that gain monk-like progression of unarmed damage, unarmored AC bonus. The Legendary Super Saiyan does not gain any additional enhancement to base speed but does gain improvements of unarmed damage 1 level earlier than other unarmed classes normally would. A Legendary Super Saiyan also gains Ki Abilities like a Saiyan Warrior, as indicated on the table above.


Bonus Ki Pool: A Legendary Super Saiyan gains ki pool points just as a Saiyan Warrior would. The points given on the table above replace the standard ki pool total for the Saiyan Warrior. If the Legendary Super Saiyan ever returns to the Saiyan Warrior class, he retains his ki pool total that he left this class with and gains additional ki pool points based on the difference in his previous level of Saiyan Warriors ki pool points and his new Saiyan Warrior level of ki pool points. For example, If before becoming a Legendary Super Saiyan, the character had 7 levels of Saiyan Warrior, and after completing this class, returned to Saiyan Warrior he would gain 16 new ki points because a level 7 Saiyan Warrior has a ki pool of 59 and a level 8 Saiyan Warrior has a ki pool of 75, a difference of 16.


Super Saiyan: Upon reaching 1st level a Legendary Super Saiyan has ascended to a power known as Super Saiyan. Unlike Saiyan Warriors, a Legendary Super Saiyan is automatically capable of turning into a Super Saiyan at 1st level and does not have to respond to a need, and make saves. A Legendary Super Saiyan can never lose the ability to turn Super Saiyan regardless of alignment shifts, or actions.

When the Legendary Super Saiyan makes the transformation his hair and eye brows turn bright gold in color and his pupils and iris turn a bright almost glowing sea green. His muscles bulge slightly and his now golden hair stands more straight up then it did before. The Legendary Super Saiyan radiates a golden light of power that constantly flows up from their feet like an opaque flame making his hair and clothes wave lightly almost like it were in a wind. The Legendary Super Saiyan can voluntarily suppress this light at any time as a free action even when its not their turn, tho they still retain their golden hair, eye brows and green pupils regardless until they revert to their normal state, losing the bonuses granted by the transformation.

The power of a Super Saiyan is substancial. The Legendary Super Saiyans strength, speed and agility are increased. this increase gives a Super Saiyan +8 strength, +8 dexterity and +20 base speed bonus. (Note these stat bonuses are considered a "super natural" bonus for determining what it stacks with. Also if a Legendary Super Saiyan has chosen ki flying as a special ability or does so later, its fly speed is also increased by 20 while in the Super Saiyan form). A Legendary Super Saiyan immediately loses all stat, and speed bonuses given from the Super Saiyan state once they revert to their normal form.

The Super Saiyan transformation takes its toll on the Legendary Super Saiyans body. A Legendary Super Saiyan that does not have at least a +1 constitution modifier may not obtain any of the Super Saiyan transformations until they have a raw 12 or higher constitution. At the beginning of the transformation the Legendary Super Saiyan must pay 10 points of ki which sustains the Super Saiyan transformation for 1 minute, and must pay an additional 1 points of ki (instead of the 5 points for Saiyan Warriors), at the beginning of each following minute. If a Legendary Super Saiyan ever reverts back to his natural state due to lack of ki points he is left fatigued. A Legendary Super Saiyan who voluntarily reverts to his natural state before losing all ki points, takes no penalty.


Legendary Strength: At various levels in the Legendary Super Saiyans progression he has more and more powerful Super Saiyan transformations. At 1st level a +2 strength bonus is applied to all Super Saiyan transformations, but every 3 levels thereafter the +2 strength bonuses are applied only to the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation. So a 10th level Legendary Super Saiyan when transformed as a normal Super Saiyan would have a +10 strength bonus, and while transformed as a Legendary Super Saiyan would have a total of +16 strength bonus.


Legendary Dexterity: At various levels in the Legendary Super Saiyans progression he has more and more agile Super Saiyan transformations. At 2nd level a +2 dexterity bonus is applied to all Super Saiyan transformations, but the bonus gained at level 8 is applied only to the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation. So a 10th level Legendary Super Saiyan when transformed as a normal Super Saiyan would have a +10 dexterity bonus, and while transformed as a Legendary Super Saiyan would have a total of +12 dexterity bonus.


Rampaging Juggernaut: At 3rd level a Legendary Super Saiyan's skin toughens and he becomes able to better shrug off some amount of injury from each blow or attack. Subtract 5 from the damage the Legendary Super Saiyan takes each time he is dealt damage from any weapon, spell, natural attack, any other source of damage. Only the first 5/- at 3rd level is applied to the normal Super Saiyan transformation, while all 3 bonuses are applied to the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation. So for example, a 10th level Legendary Super Saiyan gains a damage reduction of 5/- while transformed into a normal Super Saiyan and damage reduction 25/- while transformed as the Legendary Super Saiyan.


Legendary Super Saiyan: At 4th level, the Legendary Super Saiyan takes his place as "The Saiyan of Legend". Upon reaching level 4 a Legendary Super Saiyan may choose to transform into The Legendary Super Saiyan. In order to turn into the Legendary Super Saiyan the character must begin gathering and harnessing his energy for the transformation.

On the first round he begins this process a pillar of harmless green light surrounds him, shooting up 100 feet unless stopped by any solid surface above him. Any creatures within 250 feet of the character at the time this light appears that has either line of sight, or line of effect to the Legendary Super Saiyan, must make a DC 35 will save or be immediately fascinated on The Legendary Super Saiyan. Any Saiyan Warrior or similar class characters who can sense the ki or life force of others take a -8 on this save because they are able to feel his energy intensely rising. The Legendary Super Saiyan must then spend an additional round gathering his energy and preforming the transformation, any characters who failed their will saves remain fascinated until the completion of the transformation with no additional saves. During these two rounds the ground in the local vacinity rumbles and quakes lightly cracking and rupturing the surrounding terrain. Any loose rocks or stones on the ground are shaken loose by the quaking, float up as tho under the effect of a reverse gravity spell, due to the awesome power being unleashed during the two rounds.

At the end of the Legendary Super Sayians turn in the third round, an instantaneous and harmless shockwave of light radiates from the Legendary Super Saiyan twice. Each time the shockwave harmlessly changes the very color of the sky, leaving it a dark violet at the end. This effect on the sky ends 1d6 X 10 minutes later. Just after the shockwaves, an explosive energy errupts from the Legendary Super Saiyan and radiates out 15 feet in all directions, bullrushing (DC 30 strength check to resist) any characters to the edge of the energy wave and breaking the fascination effect on any and all afflicted characters. Any characters moved in this manner take 1d6 force damage per 5 feet moved. The explosion leaves a crater in the ground 30 feet wide and 3 feet deep centered on the newly transformed Legendary Super Saiyan. A Legendary Super Saiyan struck while transforming must make a concentraition check (DC = damage dealt) or he loses focus on his transformation and must start again.

When the Legendary Super Saiyan makes the transformation his size increases to large, and he begins with his ki visible. All non-magical clothes that are very tightly fitted are broken or shreded and no longer usable, any loose fitted clothing holds and covers him as normal with DM discretion. As a large creature he gains a +4 bonus on all opposed grapple, bull rush, trample and over run checks as well as increased carrying capacity. His space he occupies increases to 10 feet and he gains a 10 foot reach and increased unarmed damage. The Legendary Super Saiyan transformation affords him access to all of the transformation bonuses given so far for the class. So a 10th level Legendary Super Saiyan gains a +16 strength, +12 dexterity, Energy Well, damage reduction 25/-, and bonus hit points.

Energy Well: At 5th level and beyond, the Legendary Super Saiyans power is so immense and so over whelming that he regenerates health and an amount of used ki points equal to twice his character level, every 3d4 rounds. The first energy is gained upon transforming and then 3d4 rounds after his transformation into his Legendary Super Saiyan form. This effect does not work in the normal Super Saiyan transformation and stops working when The Legendary Super Saiyan leaves the Legendary Super Saiyan transformation. The Legendary Super Saiyan cannot gain more health or ki points than his maximum health and ki pool through this ability.


Legendary Determination: At 10th level, while transformed as The Legendary Super Saiyan, a Legendary Super Saiyan gains a number of temporary hit points equal to twice thier character level. So for example: a 10th level Saiyan Warrior / 10th level Legendary Super Saiyan would gain 40 temporary hit points upon his transformation to Legendary Super Saiyan. All unused temporary hit points are lost when the transformation ends.

Campaign Information[edit]

Playing a Legendary Super Saiyan[edit]

Combat: In combat, a Legendary Super Saiyan is a juggernaut of an opponent. With his toughness, regenerating ki, damage reduction and d12 hit die, a Legendary Super Saiyan can continuously take damage for extended periods of time with little fatigue. Add to that the Legendary Super Saiyans transformed Strength bonus at maximum level is +16, and hes more than willing to let his opponents into range to strike him so that he can pummel them into oblivion before they can do any substantial damage to him.

Advancement: A Legendary Super Saiyan would usually advance back into Saiyan Warrior for more ki points, ki abilities and progression of unarmed damage, ac and flurry of blows. But for an alternative twist, a Legendary Super Saiyan could take advantage of his large size from his transformation and customize with a few grappling feats or grappling prestige class and as a large creature while transformed the Legendary Super Saiyans strength bonus becomes very scary.

The Legendary Super Saiyan in the World[edit]

NPC Reactions: NPC's that are unfamiliar with Saiyans, Super Saiyans, or the Legendary Super Saiyan legend have normal reactions based on their interactions with the Legendary Super Saiyan. When these NPC's see the Legendary Super Saiyan transform fear and panic are likely reactions because of the changes in the atmosphere around him while his transformation gives him an intimidating appearance, having a large muscular frame, a flame like aura, and not having pupils or irises. Any NPC's who know of the Legendary Super Saiyan lore will veiw the Legendary Super Saiyan with either awe and/or fear depending on the relationship with the Legendary Super Saiyan, and this goes even more so for Saiyans or Saiyan Warriors.

Legendary Super Saiyan Lore[edit]

Characters with ranks in either Knowledge (Saiyans or The Planes) or Bardic Lore can research Legendary Super Saiyans to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs. (Characters using Knowledge (Saiyans) gain a +4 bonus on this check).

15 Legendary Super Saiyan is actually a completely separate transformation to the standard Super Saiyan transformation. This transformation increases the Saiyans size and strength to a level that is twice as strong as a standard Super Saiyan.
20 Unlike standard Super Saiyans, Legendary Super Saiyans, are so powerful that their ki replenishes itself regularly as the Legendary Super Saiyan keeps fighting. Legendary Super Saiyans are insanely tough and can shrug off a significant amount of impact from an opponents blow.
25 This is a rare power for any Saiyan to achieve, so much so that only one Saiyan is born every one thousand years that is capable of reaching this power. When transforming into the Legendary Super Saiyan the amount of power being emitted by the Legendary Super Saiyan is so great that the molacules in the air crackle with energy causing the color of the sky to change color twice in a shockwave formation starting on the Legendary Super Saiyan just before the transformation finishes.
30 The first ever Super Saiyan's power was so great that it could only be maintained in a transformed state. One day his rage erupted and he was destroyed by his own power, and in the process destroyed the Saiyans original home world. It is speculated and believed that this original Super Saiyan was only able to maintain this power as a Golden Oozaru, but no one knows for sure.

Legendary Super Saiyans in the Game[edit]

The Legendary Super Saiyan is just that.. Legendary. The Legendary Super Saiyan brings an immensely powerful and equally rare creature into the campaign world. Whether its as a heroic PC or dastardly NPC, everything the Legendary Super Saiyan does or becomes involved in becomes important in some manner. His exploits are the work of Legends. Regardless of good or evil views in life, Legendary Super Saiyans realize that they are in a league apart from their peers and are obsessed with becoming the most powerful being they can become.

Adaptation: Although most any player would probably love to have his character be something as uncommonly rare as a Legendary Super Saiyan, but realistically this class would be much better suited for the DM to use as an NPC that either is an occasional, strong ally to the party or a main villan that is a constant thorn in the parties side. It could also be used as a tool for the DM to keep a Saiyan Warrior in check if he starts trying to be overpowered.

Sample Encounter: A group of level 12th level NPC's (preferably a group with 1 Saiyan Warrior in it), is at their usual home / hangout area and a messenger arrives. If there is a Saiyan Warrior in the group than the messenger is either another Saiyan, or someone close to or important to the Saiyan Warrior. If there are no Saiyan Warriors in the group than a messenger from the church of a devout PC arrives and says that a dastardly and evil creature called The Legendary Super Saiyan is terrorizing an entire region of a continent, and asks the PC's to come deal with him.
